A calmer month-end close starts before day one
Most close stress is created in the last week of the month. Here is how to move the work earlier.

The close rarely goes wrong on the day it is due. It goes wrong in the quiet weeks before, when small exceptions pile up unnoticed.
Reconcile continuously
Match bank lines as they arrive instead of in one long session at month-end. A short daily review keeps the queue small and the context fresh.
Write the checklist once
Give every task an owner, a due day and a definition of done. When the checklist lives next to the work, nobody has to ask what is left.
